556 Book Chicks did not see this coming...
Holy Mutha of Books! I was not prepared for this Rex book. Lawd know I was not prepared. I had no idea that Rex's story would have me sobbing and crazy giggling like an idiot. I thought I loved JB Salsbury before, but she went totally out the box with this story. There is never a moment were you are comfortable...you are anxious the entire book!

It's so hard to write this review without spoiling it for you. I want to talk about everything that freaking happened. But let me say if you thought Jonah and Blake had it going on...baybbeee Rex is definitely on their level. And I love that we got to catch up with Jonah and Raven...and Blake and Layla too.

I still can't believe this was Rex's story...we know Rex from the cage and the band, but that's all we really knew about him. We didn't know that Rex has a serious case of OCD or that Rex had an extreme childhood. OMG I cringe just thinking about what poor Rex had to endure. We also didn't know that Rex dreamed about his childhood but he couldn't figure out what was real or not. He had blocked out all the bad from his life in order to stay in the present.

Remember Layla's friend Mac, from the bar that Ataxia performs at? Well honey we didn't know that her and Rex had crossed paths before and she was basically stalking him trying to figure out how to get close to him again. We also didn't know that she held all the information to piece Rex's life back together. Yikes

This is nothing compared to what JB Salsbury brings to the table. At one moment you want to kick the shit out of her and the next you want to freaking hug her ass (talking about JB here). I promise this book will make you extremely bipolar. I was never bipolar about Rex though. I was swooning over him from the beginning until the end. Now Mac on the other hand, one minute I wanted to slap her and the next I was fist pumping something awesome she said or did. LOL!

OMG did I mention that Rex has that sexy alpha male dominant thing going for himself. There is this one part when he is helping Mac with the flat tire on her bike (motorcycle). Hell Yeah, Mac rides a motorcycle without a helmet - I told you she was awesome. Anyway Rex is helping her and thinking about how unsafe it is for her to be in the dark alley with a flat. 'If I had a girl, I'd spank the hell out of her if she put herself in this situation.' Say what now? Did I mention how much I loved this alpha male side of Rex? Oh I think I did (hehheee).

So one of my favorite parts was when Caleb was trying to ask Mac out and Rex was about to go ape. 'He's fucking flirting with her. Pain throbs in my jaw and my stomach muscles contract. I was making out with her ten seconds ago, and already I feel some kind of proprietary claim on her. Caleb's my best friend, but I don't want his fucking country ass anywhere near Mac. Or his hands and lips. Shit, I'm halfway thinkin' I'd gouge his eyes out just for looking at her.' But wait it gets better...Mac proceeds to put her number in Caleb's phone and now Rex is fuming. Later Mac tells him that she gave Caleb his number and not hers...I was cracking the hell up! Smart girl that Mac and she gets a Hi5 for making Rex jealous and a Hi5 for being hella smart.

The sexiest part of the book...and I don't know if any book has ever made a blowjob sound sexy. But damn if JB Salsbury didn't nail it with this scene. 'I fist my hands in her silky red hair, holding her to me. She parts her lips, and my dick disappears inch by inch into her mouth until she can't take anymore.' Holy Mutha of Blowjobs!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate I can't piece together the connection he has with Mac. Damn it I want to talk about it soooooo bad, but you will have to read it for yourself. I will tell you that Dominick Morretti (Raven's father) is not finished wrecking lives. And you want to dig his ass up and kill him all over again. But the outcome of this shit storm makes you smile at the end.

You will fall in LOVE with Rex! I am talking head over heels in LOVE with him.

OMG!!! OMG!!! OMG!!! We never thought Blake would swoop in and knock Jonah off the throne, but OH Baby! Blake is everything you are looking for...even when you are afraid to admit it. And when Layla walks into his empty life he doesn't know how to react.

We first met Blake back in Fighting for Flight, when he helped his best friend Jonah save his girlfriend Raven from her pimp daddy! LOL! So now we got Blake packaged up in a HOT book of his own, and we still got to check in on Jonah and Raven...and even Eva's crazy arse.

Back to Mr. "I don't do women with kids." Blake is still up to his old routines...sleeping around and avoiding any forms of commitment. But he is so damn funny you almost forget he is a chauvinistic pig! LOL! 'All three girls from last night. Pushing up to my elbows, I count the legs to make sure. All of them are long, slender, toned, and hairless. Except one. Oh Shit. Please - I wiggle my toes, and the toes on the hairy leg wiggle. Thank God.' As a woman you almost wished it was a hairy man in bed with him, just to teach his arse a lesson!

Layla enters from stage left - single mother, escaping an abusive marriage...she is just looking for a clean start for her and her daughter, Elle. Let me tell you her daughter's legal name is freaking Axelle Rose...seriously how cool is that? Only JB Salsbury would deliver such a rocking name like Axelle Rose (for all you 90's babies that is the lead singer for Guns N' Roses). Any who...Layla walks into Blake's life and both of their worlds are turned upside.

But please don't think for one minute that this book is just about bringing them two together. No ma'am this book has years of lies and secrets buried deep, but OH MY when they surface you can do nothing but shake your damn head. The most jaw dropping moment was when Layla's douchebag husband talks about the night he hooked up with her at the party (that conceived Axelle)...OMG if at anytime you can reach inside a book and strangle someone - he would be your first pick! "You don't want her. She's garbage. Even back in high school, no one stepped up." Let's just say Blake shows him how much he wants Layla.

One of the favorite things about the book is...Blake's subconscious! We loved how JB Salsbury relayed what he was really feeling...Loved it. Like we said earlier Blake is freaking hilarious.

One of our favorite moments...Layla had just shared the life she had with her husband and why she finally left for Vegas with Axelle, and Blake is ready to hunt him down. "Write it down. Address, phone number, social security number, whatever you've got." He taps the pad of paper. "I want it all." At this point Layla is confused she don't know what the heck he is talking about...but don't worry Blake is sure to break it down for her. "Don't want to scare you, sweetheart, but this shit's ending now. Some guys need to be taught a lesson. Your ex is one of those guys. And I'm the man to teach it. Write it down." How can you not love Blake?

There are plenty of tear jerking moments, but one of our eye balling moments...at Axelle's 17th birthday party and Blake gets on the stage and sings Guns N' Roses's "Sweet Child of Mine." But it's not the fact that he is singing this song to her that makes you weepy...it's when he ask Axelle if he could be her dad. Lord, I could not stop the tears from falling. "I love you, Axelle Rose. We have a pretty kick-ass opportunity here. We get to choose who we claim as family. I choose your mom, and you. It's your life, and I'll be here for you no matter what you decide. It's your choice." Damn it man, I need some tissue right now!

Stop waiting...1-click Fighting to Forgive now! You will not want the book to end, believe us you will be begging for more Blake! There is so much to LOVE about this book! A standing ovation to JB Salsbury on a great sequel.

Bad Boy Fighter, Jonah, will not attach himself emotionally to anyone (not since the death of his father). He is known for sexing the girls down and leaving them. And of course all the girls want to dig their claws into the professional MMA fighter. But Jonah won't give them the time of day...

Until he meets Raven, his car mechanic...she is fun and down to Earth and has Jonah second guessing his single status. It doesn't take Jonah long to realize he can't live without her. Jonah tries so hard to play it cool, but their chemistry was building at a fast pace. Jonah's friends notice the change in him the minute Raven steps foot in his backyard. We were dying laughing like you know damn well you want that girl. Stop trying to fight it!!! They go from just being friends to practically living together in a blink of an eye. But Raven gets major points for not trying to hide who she is..."my mom's a prostitute and my dad was her pimp." Say what now?

"You're unlike anyone I've ever known. You're kind, smart, funny, gracious...hell, you even laugh at Blake's jokes. I want you. And that includes everything that makes you who you are."

Which is a great intro into Blake. OMG Jonah is not the only sex pot in the book. Blake can hold his own in a room full of women. "There is something about this guy that goes beyond his super-hot, bad-boy fighter good looks. That alone would make any girl fidgety. His light brown hair is buzzed short, drawing all the attention to his bright green eyes. His looks alone are enough to leave a trail of broken hearts in his wake." So of course he made the book boyfriend HOTTIE list. He is a stand out in this book!!! He instantly became a protector of Raven's and had Jonah's back when needed. And we can't wait to read more about Blake!!!

When Dominick (Raven's pimp daddy) called her - our stomach dropped. We knew she was thinking good things but come on your pimp of a daddy calls after 20 years just to catch up. NOT! When Dominick tells her that its time for her to start working for him - we were SCREAMING! Really what daddy would want his daughter to be a prostitute???

Dominick: "I used your mother to create another like her. The next generation, if you will, to meet the growing demands of my business."

Raven: "You want me to be a hooker for you?"

Dominick: "Hooker is such a ugly word," he tsks. "I prefer escort. But, yes, that's what you were created for. That's why I made you. It's time you fulfill your purpose."

Tiffany's Opinion ----> You talking about being fighting MAD! This was totally unexpected. I had been texting my cousin, LaToya, since the start of the book. This was a calling matter - I had to call her. All she could say was that daddy evil. Evil hell no Dominick is the devil. He knew too much information about her and that made me think he was the one dating Eve (Raven's best friend). I'm thinking back and I'm like Eve is dating a powerful, secretive man. OMG OMG its got to be Dominick. Now I am mad at Eve for running her damn mouth. Why are you telling Raven's business to your mystery man? That's why you can't tell people your business because they get caught up in the moment and start talking. Damn you Eve - damn you!!! JB Salsbury has you questioning everyone in this book!

WE DON'T WANT TO SPOIL ANYMORE OF THE BOOK!!!

 

But don't think this is the end...there is still plenty of book left. Excitement - edge of your seat, biting your nails excitement!!! Jonah makes a deal with the devil, Raven runs into her mother, Eve learns the truth about Vince, Raven meets Jonah's mother, Jonah fights for the MMA title, and that bitch Candy is still in the mix.

 

Did we mention that we cried like a freaking baby throughout parts of this book...JB Salsbury has us using all our freaking tissue with this book.

 

Tear Jerker Moment: When they are in the garage listening to the song 'Halo' by Beyoncé and Raven tells Jonah how he is her saving grace. And he turns to her and says, "It's funny, this thing between us. Every concern or emotion we feel, it's mutual. Here you're thinking I'm saving you, when all this time it's been you who saved me."

Somebody pass the freaking tissue! There are too many GREAT moments in this book. We don't want to give them all away! So we will keep the ending a secret....
