LOVE ME WITH LIES

The Opportunist (Love Me With Lies #1) by Tarryn Fisher

4 out of 5 stars

"There is more to loving someone than just making yourself happy. You have to want him to be happier than you are."

Olivia Kaspen has real trust issues, stemming from her family life. Then she meets Caleb Drake. He is everything she is not - popular, social and athletic. Caleb finds himself in love with her, but Olivia ruins every chance she gets with him, with her inability to trust.

Three years have passed since their failed relationship. There stands Caleb in the record store and all memories good and bad come rushing back to Olivia. Only now Caleb has amnesia and a fiancee, Leah.

I love how Tarryn Fisher goes from present day to past throughout the book. Because in this book you need to understand the history of Caleb and Olivia to truly grasp the present day relationship. There is so much history between the two of them you want to bound the two of them together forever. But things don't always work out the way you want, especially when everyone is manipulating the situation to fit their needs.

Olivia lied to get close to Caleb again and then she ran to keep from hurting him. Caleb lied to have time to find his happiness, then he continued to lie to keep it, but in the end the lie cost him. And let's not forget the fiancee, Leah, she does whatever she has to do to keep Caleb.

Our emotions were drained after finishing this book!

Dirty Red (Love Me With Lies #2) by Tarryn Fisher

4.5 out ot 5 stars

The sequel focuses on Leah (and her relationship with Caleb). We had no clue that Leah was this crazy in The Opportunist. It gives us a look at what Leah was like before Caleb and how she will go to extreme measures to keep Caleb. We were not expecting the family secrets that Fisher delivers in this sequel. You want to feel sorry for Leah but she really is crazy!

Leah was so threatened by Olivia's return she gets pregnant on purpose! Thinking the baby would help her secure Caleb. But what Leah did not anticipate was sharing Caleb with another woman - her daughter. Did we mention Leah is crazy?

The funniest part of the book was when Caleb was away on business and Leah needed a break from the baby. And since Caleb said absolutely no to the idea of a nanny - Leah drops the baby off at a random daycare center. Not just any daycare center but probably one of the worst she could find. Then she goes off to have drinks with her friends. By the time she remembers the baby the daycare has closed. It is hilarious how she is scrambling home to see who she needs to call and on top of it all she is drunk! Oh yeah did we mention Leah was crazy? This was Caleb's breaking point - because he loves that baby!

All the lies and manipulation have them stuck in a loveless marriage. "What I want for myself is the family I put together through blood, sweat and toil. I want it all to mean something. I won, fair and square." Leah loves Caleb for all the wrong reasons. Caleb loves no cares for Leah out of obligation. He was not in love with her (our opinion of course). Their romance is so twisted you don't know what to expect from either of them.

We didn't want this book to end!!! We can't wait for the third book!!! We were not expecting Leah to drop the bomb at the end of the book.

"I have told so many lies that I have an entire buffet of shadiness to choose from. I pluck out the worst one and rub my chin on my shoulder. This one will hurt him, probably deeper than anything that I could do or say about Olivia. Ready...set..."
