Collision Course by S.C. Stephens

4 out of 5 stars

This is the first book read by S.C. Stephens and I was lost in the story of Lucas West.

Most of us can identify with losing someone we love and wishing we had the power to will them back alive. Collision Course is a roller coaster ride of love, courage and strength...you will definitely need to keep a box of tissues close by.

Lucas West is the sole survivor of a fatal car accident that claims the lives of his girlfriend (Lillian), best friend (Darren) and Darren's girlfriend (Sammy). Lucas avoids talking about the accident by claiming to not remember the events of what happened that rainy night. The small town has already come to their own conclusion about what happened that fatal night. The gossip mill has rumors swirling about Lucas being totally wasted the night of the accident and everyone seems to believe the rumors (even those that know Lucas). Although there are times I wanted to yell at Lucas to stand up and fight for himself, my heart breaks for him as he struggles to put the pieces of his life back together.

In walks Sawyer, the new girl in town running from her own issues. She instantly connects with Lucas on the first day of school (in the men's restroom of all places). She becomes the only reason Lucas wakes up from his fantasy world. I love her courage and how she finds humor in all the rumors that circulate about her and Lucas.

I love how you even get a chance to fall in love with the deceased characters. S.C. Stephens does a great job describing their individual connection to each other.
