Cole Hart Interview

Author Cole Hart was not going to rest until he granted 556 Book Chicks an exclusive interview! 556 Book Chicks' Monika was going to make sure we got to talk to him about his writing skills. And with the 'The Throne III' dropping today (May 17th) its a great day to introduce our bookies to Author Cole Hart!

The Chicks: How did you get the name Cole Hart?

Author Hart: I got the name from some of my homies here in prison, except it is spelled Cold Heart. It was actually one of my mentor's idea to spell it Cole Hart.

The Chicks: How old are you?

Author Hart: I just turned 39 years old. I got incarcerated at the age of 25.

The Chicks: How long have you been writing?

Author Hart: I started writing in 2001 in Macon State Prison, so I've been pushing my pen twelve years straight.

The Chicks: What keeps you motivated to write?

Author Hart: My family, The Bankroll Squad...and of course my faith and hopes of being a writer on the streets.

The Chicks: So you first book was self published...what made you team up with a publishing company?

Author Hart: Self publishing is cool, but by me being in here (prison) I am kind of limited to being exposed. So being signed with David Weaver has helped me out a whole lot.

The Chicks: Do you have any immediate goals you wish to accomplish?

Author Hart: I want to make the New York Times best sellers list. And hopefully a release to the streets since I'm up for parole this year.

The Chicks: Who are some of your favorite Authors?

Author Hart: Sidney Sheldon, James Patterson, and John Grisham

The Chicks: We have to know...did you read the 'Fifty Shades of Grey' books?

Author Hart: I have never read 'Fifty Shades of Grey,' but I damn sho' wanna write something that is going to sell millions of copies like it did.

The Chicks: What books did you enjoy writing?

Author Hart: Besides 'The Throne,' I definitely enjoyed writing 'Godfather of Atlanta' (originally 'A-Town Veteran'), which is coming real soon and guaranteed to be a classic.

The Chicks: How did you create the characters for 'The Throne' books?

Author Hart: 'The Throne' was created from my imagination. I did a good bit of research on the history of some of the Queens like Elizabeth and so forth. And definitely the women drug lords in Mexico and Columbia.

The Chicks: Who is your favorite character from 'The Throne' books?

Author Hart: My favorite characters from 'The Throne' is Papa Bear and Falisa, but I really love them all.

The Chicks: How did the collaboration for 'Red Bottom Bitches' come about?

Author Hart: We were tossing around story plots, having our round table discussion. Torica and myself collaborated on the plot over the phone, then we got with David Weaver and it was a wrap after that. 'Red Bottom Bitches 2' is definitely a full length novel and it will take over the summer.

The Chicks: Who outside of the TBRS Authors would you like to collaborate with on a book?

Author Hart: There are a few female authors outside the squad that I would love to work with, but I will keep it under wraps until the time is right.

The Chicks: Do you have any words of wisdom for some of the young kids out here?

Author Hart: The words of wisdom I have is something I wrote called 'The Street Advocate' and it's strictly for the younger brothers that are looking to follow the wrong steps that I once followed and glorified in. So being up close and personal with "THAT LIFE" got me a "LIFE SENTENCE" and with that being said I write for the cats that want to get in here where I'm at. Everybody will know about 'The Street Advocate' across the world in a little while.

The Chicks: And last but not least, is there one thing you would like to say to your fans now that you have their attention?

Author Hart: I would like to give a BIG shout out to 556 Book Chicks for turning up and repping that TBRS family. My Calbo with my brother Torica Tymes, 'Red Bottom Bitches' is already out! 'The Throne III: The Finale' is on the way and so is the 'Godfather of Atlanta.' And last but not least, Write House Publishing is accepting manuscripts. Keep your eyes open for the Hood Romance Novel 'Scarlett' by Tiece. She's definitely about to make some noise in the Industry.

We <3 you Author Cole Hart and we wish you all the success in the world! We will see you on the streets soon!

The Supremacy III - The Finale

The Supremacy III - The Finale by Torica Tymes

5 out of 5 stars

Amazon Summary: While the love of his life lay in a hospital bed, Ivory's mind raced with the wind. Would the 30 day stint in the county be enough to convince him to alter his lifestyle? Or would the fortune and fame call his name too loudly for him not to answer?
As always, when money and greed is added into the equation; the question of loyalty is quickly raised and put to the test. Will Jolly Jr. and Ray gain Ivory's complete trust? Can Frost restore the relationship he once had with his first cousin? Who will stand firm when the pressure is on and who will be the demise of this reign of Supremacy?

Chit Chat with the Book Chicks:
OMG...I was already nervous about reading The Finale. I knew the series had to end but I was so anxious. I sat on the book for almost 2 weeks scared to read it. Finally I start reading and I could NOT put the book DOWN! I loved that Ivory was back in rare form and that he knew he had to deal with his cousin Frost. I hated that Frost was that grimy that he would try and take down the one person that gave him status in the game...but I guess that's how the game is played at times. One of my favorite parts was when Jit had Frost on hold while Dunn was talking to Ivory about the connect...and when Ivory told them the new price...they both looked at Keysha and was like "F%ck Frost." I was SCREAMING laughing because Frost so got what he deserved.

What made me want to fight? Was that Ratchet "so-called" best friend Mea. Now you see Ivory and Tweety trying to do their thing (finally) and you still trying to get at him - RATCHET! So now you dropping shade every chance you get. I was ready to fight her...but Ray and Tay called it when they said Ivory gets soft with some of his feelings. Because he let Mea slide TO TOO many times...just wait until you read it.
"Money breeds envy. Watch for the growth."

There are soooo many parts of this book that I love...but I don't want to spoil it for you!!!

I am in a love / hate relationship with the ending...I think the ending was perfect because it was not your typical hood story happily ever after ending...it was REAL! But I was mad because I couldn't read anymore and believe me when I say I wanted TO READ MORE!! I was still trying to turn the page. So I text 556 Book Chicks Monika - and let her know I was wanted more from this book and I was on my way to Columbus to find Torica. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would...GREAT ENDING to a FANTASTIC SERIES! Torica Bawss Tymes did his thing with The Supremacy III: The Finale!

***PLEASE DON'T READ THE SUPREMACY III - IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE SUPREMACY AND THE SUPREMACY II***

DUFFLE BAG BITCHES

Duffle Bag Bitches by Alicia Howard

3.5 out of 5 stars

"A real bitch can make herself look good is she shopped at the Goodwill. That's what real bitches did. Work with what they had instead of buying shit that they couldn't afford."

Duffle Bag Bitches started off really slowwww...we were getting confused by the all the characters that kept popping up! But the story does pick up towards the middle to the end...

First let's start by saying Zane and Shannon were the favorites of the book. Even though Dallas may be the brains behind the whole operation - Zane was a boss by his own right! We loved how Shannon walked in the room and turned his world upside down. They both had the same swag and we knew they belonged together.

Basically the story is about two crews that come together to make things happen and get money. The women set them up and the men take them down. But don't sleep on these DDB because they were getting money before they teamed up with Dallas.

What we didn't like...the book had way too many characters. We found ourselves flipping back pages to keep all the characters straight. It was slow in the early parts of the book...almost to where you wanted to put it down but you have to keep reading!

What we are looking forward to...the sequel...we are anticipating it will be better than Part 1 (not that Part 1 was bad). They didn't clear up all their loose ends in book 1 and he is out for vengeance in book 2.

Get to know the ladies of DDB's - Jay, Jasmine, Nisha and our girl Shannon

556 Book Chicks meets Author Envy Seal

Before we jump into the interview, we would like to THANK Author Envy Seal for taking time out of her busy schedule to chat with us! She strutted in with an abundance of confidence, positive energy and a big smile!!! We loved her immediately…

Envy Seal has a collection of poetry and short stories on her website – and they are AWESOME! In 2011, Envy Seal released Perfume and Cigarettes, a collection of urban erotic short stories. And yes she signed a copy for us – and yes we will be keeping it for ourselves!!!

Now on to the interview…

556: Where are you from originally?

Envy Seal: Toronto, Canada

556: How did you end up in Atlanta?

Envy Seal: Needed an atmosphere change – wanted to have a better opportunity for my son. This is my third time moving here…I would move and go back to Toronto and move again…this time I stayed.

556: You have a son? What’s his name? How old is he?

Envy Seal: Yes, Harlem and he’s six

556: So when did you start writing?

Envy Seal: About five years ago, but I didn’t let anyone read anything until two years ago. I posted a passage on Facebook and received lots of positive feedback and it encouraged me to pursue my talent.

556: How do you get ideas for your stories?

Envy Seal: Based on life experiences – like my surroundings or the people in my life. Most of my stories are real life experiences – turned fiction. It’s kind of funny how my friends / family call me and say I know that story was about me (laughs).

556: So how did you get the name Envy Seal?

Envy Seal: Back in the day there was this one particular girl that was always hatin’ on me and my friend would always say she is envious of you. So I took Envy and turned it into something positive – to envy what I could be getting and to go after my success…Seal (given to me by a friend) just means to seal the deal.

556: How did you become a part of the Bankroll Squad (TBRS)?

Envy Seal: I read Me and My Bitch (by David Weaver) and I decided to contact him (I was basically stalking him). I sent him the passage I had put on Facebook and he liked it. I ended up getting signed even though it was rumored that he had already signed his last author.

556: How does your writing style differ from other authors in TBRS?

Envy Seal: I always write in the first person…we all just have a different flow that makes us work for the team. Chanel (Author of RapStar) and I are planning on collaborating on a book.

556: That would be great!!! We loved Rap Star.

556: What gets you inspired to werk (work)?

Envy Seal: Music. I put on my big headphones and listen to music..sexual music gets me in the mood to write. I love Sade!

556: What did you listen to while you were writing Kush & Cologne?

Envy Seal: A little Jagged Edge and Jay Z

556: What is your favorite book and why?

Envy Seal: The Coldest Winter Ever (by Sister Souljah) – the main character Midnight was just sexy and protective.

556: Oh Really!!! We must add that to our MUST read list!

556: Who are your favorite authors (outside of the TBRS of course)?

Envy Seal: Noir (she is like a mystery), Nikki Turner, James Patterson and Mark Anthony

556: We have to ask…did you read / like FiftyShades of Grey?

Envy Seal: No…I have the books but I just found them boring.

556: (gasps) What??? Really??? We read that book like 20 times or more.

Envy Seal: (laughs) It just started off slowww. I don’t think I got past chapter 2 (laughs).

556: Believe us it picks up!!!

Envy Seal: I will have to try and read it again (laughs)

556: What saying / quote define who you are and why?

Envy Seal: “Our lives begin to end the moment we stay silent about what matters” – MLK Jr. I am always suppressing my feelings and I shouldn’t stand for bullshit. I should be able to question what people say or ask me.

556: Are you going to do a book signing?

Envy Seal: Yes…but the details haven’t been worked out yet.

556: Are you prepared for the success of your new book Kush & Cologne?

Envy Seal: (shyly answers) No…I am having anxiety about the release. I just want everyone to like the book.

556: What do you want your fans to know about you?

Envy Seal: That I am cool as a fan…and what you see is what you get!

556: Advice you would give to anyone trying to get in the business of writing books?

Envy Seal: Do your homework…

***And that 556 Book Fans is the talented Author Envy Seal…stay tuned for the book review of Kush & Cologne.

Hated By Many Loved By None by Shan

5 out of 5 stars (great book choice Monika)

Shan did a great job of telling a urban story of 3 friends with dreams of making it out the hood...Jahzara, Honey and Tomeka.

Jahzara came from a great 2-parent home, but decided to leave her family behind when she fell in love with a street hustler named Quin. Quin marries her fresh out of High School and Jahzara becomes the Hustler's Princess (to the streets) until Quin leaves her to hold down the fort while he serves a 4 year prison sentence. Jahzara is determined to be a faithful wife and make ends met while Quin is serving time. But when Quin mails her divorce papers before his release and Jahzara meets Imran...all HELL breaks loose!

Honey is what our children refer to as a HATER! She is determined to be on top and have all eyes on her - regardless of the consequences! Honey knows how to manipulate and play the game...until the game catches up with her.

Tomeka is a hard worker stuck in an abusive relationship. Little does she know DeMarcus has his own set of issues. She can't seem to shake him loose...until she lands herself in jail...for attempted murder!

I do think the book was too short (I read it in a couple of hours)! Since there will be a sequel I think she should have combined Part I and Part II (instead of making two short stories). I just hate waiting on sequels...but we will be waiting on Part II (right Monika)!
