A Great Ending to a Love Story

20947314

Renewed by H. D'Agostino

5 out of 5 stars

556 Book Chicks is relived that the wait is over...
OMG, we have been waiting on the conclusion of Nick and Leah's story for it seems like forever. Heather left us hanging in Book# 2 with Leah collapsing at the wedding (sorry if this is a spoiler for those who haven't read book# 2). It was not your typical Heather fashion and I was pissed at her for days for leaving this book like that.

It is really hard to write a review for this book and not give anything away. Ugh! Because there is so much I want to give away. You will be on the verge of having a heart attack throughout most of the book. I mean holding your breath - sitting - waiting - hoping - all kinds of emotions running through you at one time.

I know this book is about Nick and Leah, but damn if I don't want Cam and Avery to have a story. I love them together and I can't wait to see if they finally work through their shit and pull it together. When Nick walked in and found them naked on his couch, I thought I would die from laughing. That is the thing with Renewed, even though it is serious and emotional, Heather still found a way to make you laugh and relieve a little of your tension.

The sex scenes...they say pregnancy increases your sexual desires. Well let's just say that the scenes written in this book - are too HOT for television. I was so surprised that Heather stepped outside her box, she has never written dirty scenes like this, and I loved every minute of it.

How many times can your heart break...

Shattered by H. D'Agostino

5 out of 5 stars

556 Book Chicks falls in love with another one...
We loved loved loved that Author D'Agostino stepped outside of her comfort zone and gave us a smoking new series. Leah and Nick will take you on a wild ride, and just when you think things have settled down they will speed up again. And the best part is it written from both of their POV. I love when I get both sides of the stories and I am able to invest emotionally into both characters.

Leah Carmichael is a runner. No like really she was an upcoming Olympic runner when her dreams were crushed. Nick was her High School boyfriend and he turned down his chance to escape their small town to be with her. Only Leah was not as thoughtful and she left Nick to go and pursue her dreams. 'As I watched her walk away from me for the last time, anger boiled inside. I thought about what I'd given up. I had been asked to come to UNC on a football scholarship I'd been sought after just as much as she had, but I stayed. I let my love for her determine where my future lied.'

Although Leah was not my favorite...I did like that she was strong enough to leave behind her HS Sweetheart and follow her dreams. Even if things didn't turn out the way she hoped, she still was strong enough to leave. Okay so now you wondering why I didn't like Leah...well she was downright selfish. Ugh! She wanted everything to be centered around her...her dreams...her career...her family. Leah Leah Leah (in my Jan Brady voice)! LOL! OMG there was one part were I wanted to slap her damn face. Like really you going ballistic because Nick wants more out of life? Really Leah, really?

My favorite part...when Leah was soaking in the ice tub in the training room and Nick walked in...and he helped her wrap her ankle...and one thing lead to another. 'I began to lower myself back down, but Nick suddenly turned his head and crashed his mouth into mine. As his lips moved across mine, it was as if the last five years had never happened. His tongue snaked out and ran along the seam of my mouth forcing it open. The kiss grew urgent as if he was afraid I'd suddenly disappear. Our tongues battled one another as he reached down and grabbed me behind my thighs, lifting me up, and spinning us so my back was to the wall.' And then he left her little ass hanging...LOVED it. Like that's what she get for running from you.

You will absolutely love Shattered. It is full of love, hope, and forgiveness (oh . It will leave you longing for Part II.

Holy Mother of Playboy

Inside Out by H. D'Agostino

5 out of 5 stars

556 Book Chicks fall hard for Colin...
Holy Mother of Playboy this cover is HOT! And the book matches the cover with its sizzling hot playboy Colin Simon. H. D'Agostino keeps bringing the heat in her Second Chances Series and this novella puts another notch in her belt.

Colin Simon the ultimate playboy falls hard for his best friend's sister-in-law Amy, but Amy is not bending her rules for Colin. I loved how Colin pursued Amy and had her questioning her life. Amy once had the perfect life (in her mind) wealthy husband - career plans, but the douche cheated on her time and time again. So now Amy is bitter and she is doing things her own way!

But she cannot deny her attraction to Colin and things begin to heat up at Melanie and Austin's wedding. 'Sweat began to bead across Colin's shoulders as he worked harder and faster. Amy was a responsive woman, and he knew he was pleasing her by the sounds she was making. He leaned forward, placing her on her back so he could offer more power and force behind his thrusts. The harder he slammed into her, the more vocal she was getting. She liked it a little rough - that was obvious.' Now the average woman would have cuddled up next to Colin and staked her claim to him...but not Amy she got the hell on and fast! LOL! I was screaming "Don't do it Amy...don't you run damn it." LOL!

Colin and Amy's story will have you screaming at her a lot. You will fall hard for Colin though - it kind of sucks how we always end up taking the guy's side. But oh well, in this case Colin was in the right! Go Colin - Go Colin - Go Colin!!!! If you think I am giving you anymore insight think again...go 1-click the book!

Hannah can't run forever...

The One That Got Away by H. D'Agostino

5 out of 5 stars

556 Book Chicks get emotional again...
We could not wait to read Hannah's story - as she was one of our favorite characters from the previous books. Remember Hannah is Austin's daughter - smart, independent, a no-nonsense kind of girl. So we also learned in this book that she liked fast cars and football - now we really love this chick!

Anyway Hannah is now dating Matt (Patrick's friend) and we love them together. Matt is fun and flirty and he makes Hannah relax and have fun. In return Hannah helps Matt become more serious. He even applied to go to college...Awwwweeeeee! We could not believe how Hannah and Matt's relationship progressed so fast...we are still WIDE EYED over that. We did not see that coming a mile away! 'Needing no encouragement, Matt wrapped his arms around her, crushing her to himself as he devoured her mouth. He couldn't believe what was happening at the moment. This girl, so pure and innocent, so perfect, and trusting was handing herself over to him. As this thought began to settle in his mind, he stiffened, and pulled back slightly.' Oh yeah we know you want to know what happened next...don't worry Matt is a gentleman and we don't read and tell (sticks tongue out)!

Everything is going great. They are spending time together and getting to know each other. They are on the fast track to falling in love and we are soaking up every minute of it. Until Megan comes from behind the counter to take their order. Megan is a former conquest of Matt's from the past, but she comes bearing gifts. The kind that can make or break a relationship. We have to say that although we love Hannah...she really made us want to slap her during a portion of this book. We think the way she handled the Matt and Megan situation was childish. She didn't give him time to explain...time to sort out the situation...time for them to talk it out. She basically made it up in her mind that it was over and then the little heffa wrote him a Dear John letter. Really Hannah? Really? But the kicker was she somehow got it in her head that he picked Megan over her. Hellloooooo you stop taking his calls and messages!!! 'As the days turned into weeks, Hannah avoided Matt in every way she knew how. She ignored his calls, made sure she was out when she thought he might be stopping by her dorm, and didn't answer his e-mails.' Now you tell me who ended things...hmmmmm!

Life happens and some times we can't run from the things that are meant to be. Now this is where we have to kind of stop talking about the book - because it would be a HUGE - we are talking HUGE SPOILER to talk about what we want to talk about. But we can say someone ends up in the hospital, someone dies, someone becomes a new mother, someone learns to forgive, and someone learns to love! OMG!!!!! We know - we know - things in this book are so unexpected you will be biting your nails and holding your breath wondering what the hell Heather D'Agostino is going to do next!

One of our favorite moments in the book was...when Hannah went to Austin (yes our boo has a role in this book too) for advice about Matt. He gave her the best fatherly advice ever...and we fell in love with him yet again. "If you go into this relationship worried about it ending, you're not going to be able to enjoy it while it's happening. It's going to pass you by."

The One that Got Away is more fast paced than the previous books, and its full of surprises! Hands down our favorite book of the series so far. A big 556 Round of Applause for Heather D'Agostino for introducing us to Hannah and letting us fall in love with Matt.

"Hannah Montgomery...you are my sun, stars, and all the heavens above. I'll love you til the day I die."

Love conquers all...

The Boy Next Door by H. D'Agostino

4.5 out of 5 stars

556 Book Chicks fall in love:
Katie and Patrick have been friends and neighbors - nothing more. They both want more, but you know how it is when you're scared that a relationship will mess up your friendship. They were both stuck right in the middle, too scared to move forward. Until Matt takes his phone and gets their first date in motion. But they are both headed in different directions to college, is it too late for them to find love?

Patrick had gone through his closet and pulled out several of his old sweatshirts, some old hockey jerseys, some t-shirts, and even a pair of flannel pajama pants.

Katie reached in and put one of the t-shirts up to her nose and sniffed it, "It smells just like you."

"That's the point," he chuckled at the look on her face. "Whenever you get sad or lonely, just pick up something from this box and smell it. I'll be right there with you."

Maybe they can survive the long distance relationship after all!

We loved that we still got a chance to be a part of Melanie and Austin! And Austin was still doing sweet things for Melanie. Like when he planned the camp out at home for them. It was an Awwwweeeeeee moment! Where can we purchase an Austin?

Oh but we wanted to fight Patrick when we thought he was going out of town to see another girl. Like seriously you just left for college and you already cheating! Really Patrick? Really? Oh we were mad! And so was Katie, so she decided to drown her insecurities with a few shots of alcohol! Right on girl! Welllllllll we may have jumped the gun a bit on this one...see how it turns out by READING the book!

Remember in the first book, Unbreak Me, me were rooting for Zach to come back! Wellllll he made an appearance and we kind of changed our mind about him. Ugh! Like it was the wrong time for him to be back, and they way he treated Eden was crazy! We understand you never got over Katie, but you don't have to hurt Eden in the process.

Heather D'Agostino just does a great job of pulling us in with this story. We love how Katie stood her ground and never compromised what she believed in. It was freaking refreshing! We are looking forward to more of Hannah! For some reason she has always been the character we really wanted to know more about. You know how it is - the quiet girl in the corner commands attention. That is how Hannah is for us!

We believe in Second Chances

Unbreak Me (Second Chances) by H. D'Agostino

4 out of 5 stars

556 Book Chicks Sniff:
We are only sniffing because we believe in love and our eyes are a little watery! #don'tjudgeus

Who says you can't find love twice? Well they are sooooo wrong! Melanie and Austin find each other just when they are comfortably settled into never feeling whole again. Melanie lost her husband, Sean, in the 911 tragedy. She was still craving the love from him that she lost that morning. We loved how H. D'Agostino flashed back to happy moments with Sean. It gave us an insight on the love they shared.

But when Austin pulled up at the school that day, we forgot all about Sean. 'Melanie emerged from the car dressed in a pair of blue scrubs with her hair blowing in the breeze behind her. Austin stood frozen in place.' We loved how Austin romanced her...its been a long time since we had a man to go slow and not dominate the woman. So kudos to Austin for being a gentleman!

But don't think the mom was the only one working on a love connection, because Katie (Melanie's daughter) had her own fire brewing with Zach. 'She had that butterfly feeling in her stomach, and she kept wondering if it was the movie or his muscular arms wrapped around her that was causing the sensation. She could hear his rapid heartbeat under her cheek as it rested on his chest, and his breathing seemed to be quite ragged.' We don't want to spoil it for you...but we will say our heart broke for Zach and his family situation. This is puppy love at its finest!

Our "Say What Now" moment...when we realized that Melanie wanted to wait to have sex with Austin. And we not talking about until she got too know him better...we are talking about waiting until married sex. Ewwwwwwww...somebody pump the brake! "I was always taught that you were supposed to wait," she peaked up at him through her lashes. "I know that may seem old fashioned, but when Sean and I married, I was a virgin." Hey lady...Melanie we talking to you - who cares? Great job on being a virgin when you were with someone else, but you have this very capable man standing in front of you and you talking crazy! Oh yeah we were HOT about this...I mean great speech on setting the example for your daughter. But you kind of did that already with Sean - you pay the bills and you can get you some if you want too. And the best part is Katie doesn't even have to know! But then Ms. Virgin you steam him up and send him home to take a cold shower. Not fair to our man Austin. Not fair at all.

'He wobbled slightly on his feet as he heard her giggle. When she released him, he took the moment to move back and brace himself against the wall. Melanie tightened her grip around the base of him and moved her hand up and down while placing light kisses to him...she sank down on him until she had almost all of him in her mouth and sucked hard.'

We bet you want to know when she put it on him....LOL! Read the book! Read the book - Read the book!!
