Skipping Stone by J.B. McGee

They say there are five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.

Not everyone will grieve in this order, nor will everyone go through every stage. It’s during the stage of denial when Alex Hart meets Andrew Foster. He takes her one-step closer to acceptance: the stage when new, meaningful relationships are formed. The stage when the realization occurs that this is now the new state of normal.

Just when Alex thinks she is on her way to healing, she enters the bargaining phase. That’s the phase where you wonder what you could have done differently. You wonder “what if?” Specifically, what if the ones you loved hadn’t left you?

Leaving…this is what makes heading off to war so difficult and frightening for Alex. She knows all too well what it’s like to be the one on the losing end of life, which is why she’s made it her personal mission in life to save as many lives as possible. The extreme high she gets from treating trauma victims turns into Alex’s own form of therapy, or so she thinks.

When faced with her world being turned upside down, Alex may just find that her true therapy is in the one who has always saved her.

J.B. McGee is AWESOME at 'THIS'

Forgiven (Book# 3 of the 'This' Triology) by J.B. McGee

5 out of 5 stars

Amazon Summary: Everyone has a past…good or bad, they are always there. They lurk and linger in the shadows, sometimes reappearing at the most inconvenient times. Gabby and Bradley thought that their pasts would remain dormant, that happiness was theirs for the taking. Still the strongest of relationships can be rocked by the ugliness from a previous life, even if it seems to be a world away. The fact remains an ugly past is never distant. It taints everything it touches, drives permanent rifts between loved ones, and sometimes can ruin everything. Gabby and Bradley must find the only way to battle the past. Forgiveness becomes a light through the darkness, a guide for the lost, and hope for the hopeless. With forgiveness comes bright, new beginnings.

Chit Chat with the Book Chicks:

First things first – we loved this book! We couldn’t wait to read it and it lived up to our expectations!
Tiffany: (bites nails) well I kind of wanted Gabby and Bradley to be having sex! I was sick of her making him wait. But it made me fall in love with Bradley even more (if that’s possible)! He definitely won major points with me in this book (like he needed any extra book boyfriend points). He was passionate, loving, and raging mad at times, and I loved every minute of it.
Benita: I liked the fact that not only did she keep her promise to her mother about sex, but Bradley helped her keep her promise. That showed the depth of his love truly, because NO MAN does that these days. LOL!
What we loved (besides Bradley of course)…
*We loved that the story was written from various POV’s (we got to hear from Gabe and Sam)

*We loved how J.B. McGee introduced us to Gabe (Gabby’s father). We have been wondering about this story since ‘Broken,’ so of course we were on the edge of our seats when the daddy was about to tell his side of the story.  Finally we could breathe!
Benita: I was looking for him (the daddy) to have done something more egregious.  But if you think about it for a small child having someone hate and blame you for something that is out of your control can be very horrific.

*We loved how even though we read ‘Conspiring’ and thought for sure Ian was the father – ‘Forgiven’ made us second guess what we read and had us tied up in knots

*We loved how Bradley named the baby Faith and loved her even before he knew the truth about her.  And yes we had the misty eyes (I’m not saying we were crying just misty and that’s the story we sticking to).  OMG but the tears really started flowing when Gabby went to meet Ian and when he started talking Faith and how they lost her (Ooops Spoiler Alert – you should have read the book by now <3).
Too Funny Moment…yes J.B. McGee has us laughing too!

Benita: It was sooo funny when Bradley called himself following her and he almost got caught when she went to his office. He had to hurry up and get in the gym and pretend he had been working out! I was on the floor laughing.
Tiffany: when the groomsman are walking down the aisle and flashing Bradley random pictures of his ex-flings…that was sooo freaking hilarious!

The Catch 22 Moment…the honeymoon night...
Benita & Tiffany Agree: We were expecting Bradley to rock Gabby’s world on their wedding night, but the scene was very vanilla. We kind of thought they had better sex when they weren’t having sex (heheeeheee if you know what we mean)! But the catch 22 is that the scene was wholesome and romantic and was written perfectly for Gabby. I guess we should just keep my mind out the gutter! LOL! Besides he did tell her he would sex her down later and she would be wearing nothing but those stilettos.  Did I mention we love Bradley?

J.B. McGee gave us a lot of twist in turns; laughs; near heart attacks; grab a tissue moments in ‘Forgiven.’ We got to experience the growth in Gabby as she starts to take control of her life. And even though we still think Ian is a douche, he was starting to grow on us in this book. This book is about forgiveness…and we can’t wait to find out if Sam finally forgives in her upcoming book ‘Blinded.’

"This" Series

Book #1: Broken (This) by J.B. McGee

4 out of 5 stars (for the series)

Amazon Summary: Gabby's life has been anything but easy. She is surrounded by friends who seem to have everything she doesn't: money, social standing, and happily married parents. While dealing with the loss of her mother, she experiences her first heartbreak. She commits herself to her studies and runs away from any emotions that aren't safe. Bradley Banks, a confident CEO and commercial architect, who has long time commitment issues forces Gabby to feel again, but will he be her next heartbreak?
Chit Chat with 556:
I think we all agree to say - we loved this series! Although in the first book Gabriella "Gabby" kind of got on our nerves. We loved that she was beautiful, smart, and sarcastic (a girl after our on heart) - but we didn't love the fact that she was another female character with loads of self doubt. It was annoying! Her man trust issues stem from one douche bag, Ian, who she dated in High School. Yes I said High School - like really get over it. Any who Ian pretty much left her totally insecure. Oh yeah did we mention the douche shows up in Book# 2. Long story short Ian cheats (with...read the book) and ruins the little self esteem she had.

Down the aisle walks Bradley. We love him. We love that he knows what he wants and goes after it. Men like Bradley makes us tingly all over! LOL! Bradley is every girl's dream guy! So of course we had to add him to our Hottie Book List.

Book# 1 is mostly about how they met and what happened in Gabby's past. So its kind of like the meet and greet of the series.

Book# 2: Mending (This)

Amazon Summary: Gabby has finally started to break down the walls she has worked so hard to build up from all of the heartache she has felt through the years, just as ghosts from Bradley's past begin to show themselves. Will Gabby find healthy ways to cope with the new heartache she experiences or will she go back to running from the people who pose a risk of hurting her?

Chit Chat with 556:
We love that Gabby agreed to let go of her past and try and build a relationship with Bradley. We also loved that she made him work for her trust and love. Too many books the woman just falls into whatever the man says...but Gabby made him work, which made Bradley a better man. Kudos to Gabby! But of course there is a catch 22...now Bradley has been busy proving himself and the first time a situation rears its ugly head...she jumps out the window. Well not really...but she runs! We were pissed that she ran...you don't even stick around so he can explain. Then she runs right into the arms of her ex-douchbag, Ian. Really Gabby Really??? This was a total setup! And NOW we are even more pissed that she had the nerve to talk to him but not give Bradley a chance to explain.

We loved how J.B. McGee wrote from Gabby and Bradley's POV. You get to experience their individual pain for the situation that has occurred and you get an insight into their personal passion when they come together. And truth be told...a lot of time the guy's POV is soooooooooo much better than the woman. I'm just saying...

What we are waiting to find out:
*What the hell happened with between Gabby and her father? It seems the therapist doesn't want her to focus on that part of her life...but will the sister finally reveal why the daddy left.
**If the ex-best friend, Lindsey, will surface to give Gabby closure on the friendship...
*****And most important is Bradley about to father a baby with another woman*****

Book 2.5 (a novella): Conspiring (This)

Amazon Summary: When Bradley refuses to take Veronica to his cousin's wedding, she finds herself in the company of the charming and attractive Ian. There is no denying that Veronica and Ian have an intense, mutual attraction which draws them together like magnets. But what neither of them realizes is that their attraction isn't the only thing pulling them together. It is a small world, and it’s about to get a whole lot smaller when an innocent fling turns into an intricate plan to conspire.

Chit Chat with 556:
I read a review on Amazon and the reader was complaining about how this book made her dislike Bradley...so I was really wondering if I wanted to read this book. Because we love Bradley!!! Well this book had the opposite effect on me. I fell in LOVE with Bradley even more. Who I lost all respect for was Veronica and Ian. Bradley NEVER promised Veronica hearts and flowers..she knew exactly what kind of relationship they would have. Don't punish him because he did not fall in love with you. Veronica feel in love with Bradley (and that's okay) but she should have taken it like a woman and moved on instead of stalking him to find out he was with someone else. You don't destroy someones relationship because you miserable. And Ian that spineless jellyfish just played along with her. He knew he was sexing her down the minute Bradley left town. I was ready to kill both of them asshats.

And the best part is...you don't have to wait until Book #3 to find out if the baby belongs to Bradley. THANK YOU J.B. McGee for not making us WAIT!!!!

Oh you thought I was going to spill the beans???? NOT!!!!!!!!!! Read the book its worth it!
